Mount Toubkal Ascent, Villages and High Passes.


The Trek High Passes & Toubkal Summit will start next to the ski station Oukiemden, and will take you to cross most of the highest passes around Toubkal summit with spectacular views: Col Tizi n-ouAddi at 2960m, Col Tizi Likmet at 3555m, Col Tizi-n-Ououraine at 3120m, Col Tizi n-Ouanoumss at 3664m then Toubkal summit at 4167m. Beside High Passes & Toubkal Summit this trek will make you passing through 5 famous valleys/rivers in the massif: Ourika, Oukaimdene, Imnane, Amsouzert, and to the only one Ifni Lake in the Massif then finishing in Ait Mizaine Valley.

Throughout this 6 days Mount Toubkal trek in the high atlas mountains you will pass the most ancient villages in the high Atlas Mountains and meet Berber people and discover their costumes and traditions of locals. Overnight will be at high altitude in wild camping. During your trekking High Passes & Toubkal Summit you will enjoy lunch time breaks in the nature and tasting a variety of Moroccan Berber cuisine made by our experienced cook, freshly and safely cooked every day. Your luggage will be carried on the mules. Our professional guide for High Passes & Toubkal Summit will guide you and explain the Moroccan history and the geography of the Atlas Mountains. .

Day One :Marrakech - Oukaimdene - Amgdoul.

Departing early morning from Marrakech at 8am for 6 days Trek High Passes & Toubkal Summit towards the high Atlas Mountains via Ourika valley (local market on Mondays), the road follows the line of Ourika river/valley with a very lush landscape, red villages, traditional shops & local restaurants, cultivated terraced fields and fruits such as trees, olives, apples, cherries, walnuts, figs, the snake road to Oukaimdene plateau to 2600m. Meet the team guide, muleteers at starting point in Oukaimdene ski station at 2600m, then Tizi ou Addi at 2960m, Ouanskra village at 2100m, Tachdirte village at 2300m, Amgdoul camp at 2400m.

Day Two Amgdoul- Tizi Lekimt – Laazib Likmet

A 3 hours slow climb to the pass Likmet at 3600m through zigzagging trail, contarasting landscape over Imnane valley and on the other side of Likmet pass, a 2 hours downhill to Azib likmet, lunch and overnight next to river. Laazib Likmet camp 2600m.

Day Three Laazib Lkimt - Amzouzert

An easy and long climb towards Ourai pass at 3100m, stunning landscapes, treeless, overviewing Toubkal ridge with Ifni dome, and the green valley of Amsozarte sort downhill to sart crossing one of the most striking villages in Toubkal massif, overnight at Berber House at 1770m.

Day Four Amsouzerte Villages - Ifni Lake

Before heading to Ifni lake, visiting Amsouzarte villages visiting one of the families on the way to the Lake the only one in the area surrounded with high mountains, overnight next to the lake.

Day Five Ifni lake - Tizi-n-Ouanoumss - Toubkal refuge

Leaving our muleteers to pack up the camp gear camp and climb one of the most difficult passes in Toubkal massif and of the journey, through steep path to a scree slope to cross Ouanoums pass at 3670m, and long zigzag down to refuge Toubkal at 3207m. Overnight in a camp or at the refuge.

Day Six Refuge - Summit - Imlil

An early start to catch sunrise from the summit of Toubkal, passing by the river into the south circle above the refuge and climb through an avalanche of boulders rocks (it’s a challenging walk rather than a climb) then straightforward between giant rocks where the altitude will make steps very difficult in few parts before reaching the plateau from where you can enjoy the first lights of the sunset on the surrounding peaks above 4000m, a short walk to the summit with panoramic views on each side of the mountain before finding ourselves on the top of north Africa after 3 hours walking, a beautiful view in every direction (to the north the plain of Marrakech and the northern valleys, villages, to the south Anti Atlas & Sahara), descending same way to the refuge which takes 2hours, lunch/rest then 3 hours 30mn walking down to Imlil retracing our steps and heading back to Marrakech.
