Central High Atlas, Mgoun massif and lush valleys.


Hiking from the beautiful valley Ait Bougamez known as happy valley, through the prehistorical Tassaouet valley and the most remote Berber villages with spectacular architecture with the possibility of climbing the Mount M’goun. The itinerary will take you to cross 2 high Cols around 3000m overviewing the wildness of the Massif & valleys, stunning views and spectacular gorges with numerous rivers crossing, passing through several villages and discovering inside the imposing communal granaries, the customs and tradition.

During your trekking Central High Atlas Mountains you will enjoy lunch time breaks in the nature and tasting a variety of Moroccan Berber cuisine made by our experienced cook, freshly and safely cooked every day. Your luggage will be carried on the mules. Our professional guide for Central High Atlas & Mount Mgoun will guide you and explain the Moroccan history and the geography of the Atlas Mountains. .

Day One Marrakech - Azilal - Agouti

Departing early morning from Marrakech Toward the High Central Atlas leaving through farmsteads, the agricultural area of the Moroccan countryside, then Demnate a small & old city built 40 years before Marrakech, visit the natural Imi-n-Ifri bridge, continuing to the beautiful Ait Bouli valley & arrival to Ait Bougmaz knowing as a happy valley, overnight in a Berber house, Agouti village at 1800m. 2 house walk visiting Ait Bougmaz villages after 4h30/5h drive.

Day Two Agouti - Ait Said - Azib Ikiss

Leaving Agouti at 1800m between fields, through Berber villages Ait Said, Arous at 1920m, lunch next to the river before getting to camp Azib Ikiss at 2500m. 5h30 walk.

Day Three Azib Ikiss, Tizi , Targedite Plateau

The Trail steadily rises and traverses towards the pass Oughri 3400m, a clear view on Mgoun and look back on Ait Bougmaz valley, then downhill to Targedite plateau at 3000m lunch and overnight next the old refuge in camp. 5h30 walk.

Day Four Targedite - M’goun summit - Rougoult

Departing early morning 4.30am with head torches on ascending onto the lower slopes of the mountain with the odd rocky section and climb all the way up to the ridge before reaching the peak Mgoun West at 3978m, then a long stunning ridge-line with a slow ascent unit the end of the ridge the summit Mgoun at 4068m. Stunning view all around: Jebel Saghro and Sahara Desert, Toubkal range, Mgoun valleys... After taking plenty of summit pictures, begin descending to the West side to the end of plateau Targdite and overnight at Roughoult camp 3000m. 8hours walk.

Day Five Rougoult - Rougoult pass - Tassaouete

Leaving our muleteers to pack up the camp gear camp towards Roughoult pass at 3195m looking back to Mgoun summit and the way downhill to Tassouete valley passing by the forest before getting to Amzeri village, lunch next to river and easy walk next to the river and between fields to Imi-Ikiss camp overnight next to the river at 2000m.6h30 walk

Day Six Imi Ikiss - Ait Ali Itto - Marrakech

A nice walk down through the Tassaouet valley, river, Berber villages, spectacular gorges, visiting one of the oldest imposing communal granaries before getting to Ait Ali N’Itto 1780m, lunch, then the way back to Marrakech via Ait Tamelil and Demante. 5h walk 4h30 drive.
